Play with a friend

There are two ways to play Nailball Goal with a friend: on one device, taking turns, or in an online room when you are apart. Both are free, with no download and no sign-up. Your friend only needs a current browser.

Open the game

On one device

  1. On the home screen, under Play with a friend, choose Same device.
  2. Blue starts. Whoever's turn it is presses on the disc and shoots: pull back with a mouse, swipe on a touch screen.
  3. When the disc stops, the turn passes; hand over the phone or the mouse. Every shot has a 20-second clock.
  4. First to 3 goals wins.

Far apart (online room)

  1. On the home screen, under Play with a friend, tap Send an invite link.
  2. Private room is preselected: it does not show in the room list, so only people with the code or link get in. Room name and password are optional. Tap Create room. For a room anyone can join, pick Public room instead (Create room under Online starts with a public room).
  3. Tap Share invite link and send the room link in any messaging app. Telling your friend the room code works too.
  4. Opening the link takes your friend straight into your room. With a code, they type it under Join with a room code in Online and tap Join; that takes them straight into the room.
  5. When your friend is in, tap Start match. Each player chooses a formation without seeing the other's choice and taps Lock formation. Both formations appear before kick-off.
  6. After the match, a rematch starts when you both accept.

While you wait for your friend, you can play against a bot.

Connection help

"No open room with this code"

The code may be mistyped or the room closed. The host can open a new room and send the link again; the link is safer than typing the code.

The room asks for a password

The host set one. Ask them for it; rooms without a password are fine too.

The connection dropped during a match

The game tries to reconnect by itself; when the connection is back you return to your seat, and reloading the page usually works too. If a player does not return within 30 seconds, the match ends as a forfeit.

It says "Open somewhere else"

One player (the same browser or the same Google account) cannot be connected in two tabs or on two devices at once. Your friend has to join from their own device or browser; a second tab of your own browser cannot join your room as the opponent. If you opened two tabs by mistake, tap Continue here in the one you want; the other tab's connection closes.

I cannot connect at all

Check your internet connection and reload the page. Some office and school networks block the game's live connection; try mobile data.

We cannot play ranked from the same home

Two players on the same network cannot play a ranked match against each other (anti-cheat). Casual online matches and same-device matches are fine.
